Elsewhere inside the Sierra lie many scaled-down lakes, some previously mentioned the timberline in areas of tumbled granite and smooth-walled canyons. West on the Sierra Nevada is obvious Lake; at 67 square miles (174 square km), it can be the biggest organic lake wholly inside the state. Around th
